About half an hour driving from Almaty, you will end up in Shymbulak Ski Resort. A small area but with excellent slopes and ski lifts. This lady looked like an astronaut to me.

A beautiful, frozen lake not far from the border with Kirgistan. To get here at this time of year (March, 2019) you absolutely need a 4x4 car because the road is very icy and slippery.
